Idaho AHMA is an organization established by Management Agents and Owners to generate a cooperative effort among Industry Peers and Vendors that advances training, provides updated industry news, and represents member companies to our Agency Partners. To ensure our success, we rely on active participation from our Members in Committees designed to further AHMA’s organizational goals. We invite you to become involved in any Committee(s) that interests you and expands your career in the affordable housing industry.

COMMITTEE CHAIR
Annual Conference Committee
Megan Harris, Executive Director

Annual AHMA Members meeting and conference focused on providing education programs by nationally-recognized trainers and speakers. The Annual Conference offers opportunities to honor those who achieve best practices in their fields, to network and share ideas with peers; and to benefit from a valuable experience. The Committee works with the Executive Director and AHMA Board Members to plan the conference engage good trainers and speakers, contract with an appropriate venue, and promote the conference. The Committee will also work with the Board to plan the Annual Member Meeting, in which the new Board Members are chosen; organizational business is conducted; and the ideas are shared to promote Idaho AHMA.

The Annual Conference Committee’s goal is to ensure a successful conference that provides timely industry training, promotes “best practices” in affordable housing, and offers valuable networking with peers and our industry vendors. This Committee may be chaired by any Idaho AHMA Member and will be supported by the Executive Director and the Board of Directors.

Education & Training Committee

The Committee formed to make available training courses that meet the needs of our AHMA Members and their employees. The E&T Committee works with the Executive Director to coordinate the production and promotion of education courses and seminars. The priority is programs offered by NAHMA that set high standards to maintain the integrity of both course delivery and certification exams. In addition, the committee will organize training sessions with our Agency Partners to develop “best practices” in compliance and operating procedures.

E&T Committee’s goal is to provide educational opportunities that meet the highest standards of quality by recognized trainers – around the state. This Committee will be chaired by a Member of the AHMA Board of Directors.

Special Programs Committee

Northwest Real Estate Capital Corp.

The Special Programs Committee was formed to help members take advantage of programs offered by NAHMA, including the Communities of Quality® (COQ®) Recognition Program and NAHMA’s Drug-Free Calendar Contest. A Special Programs Blog is available to offer timely suggestions for establishing a Neighbourhood Networks Center, sharing “Best Practices” and Property Success Stories, posing questions for industry peers, taking an easy-to-use training survey, etcetera.

The Special Programs Committee’s goal is to create tools and presentations that enable our Members to take advantage of industry programs or share unique ideas that will enhance the living environment for our residents. The Committee promotes and recognizes Members and Member Companies for excellence in providing affordable housing in Idaho. This Committee may be chaired by any Idaho AHMA Member.

Membership Committee

The Housing Authority of Pocatello

The Membership Committee encourages and solicits membership in Idaho AHMA. The Committee works with the Executive Director to manage the membership lists, create marketing materials (brochures, email promotions, etc.), and advise the Board on issues related to membership. The Membership Committee welcomes new members and helps them become actively involved in our organization.

The Membership Committee’s goal is to encourage membership, maintain the active membership lists, address membership issues, and design marketing tools to promote Idaho AHMA. This Committee will be chaired by a Member of the AHMA Board of Directors.

Nominations Committee

The Nominations Committee serves to make nominations for the election of Officers and Board of Directors positions. The Committee conducts its search throughout the year for presentation to the Members at the Annual Meeting for its vote. (Member Companies have ONE vote in these annual elections.)

The Nominations Committee’s goal is to identify AHMA Members throughout our Idaho Communities that will actively participate in the leadership of our organization. This Committee will be chaired by the immediate Past-President or in their absence by the Vice President of Board of Directors.

Affiliates Committee

The Affiliates Committee encourages and solicits membership from vendors to the affordable housing industry. The Committee works with the Executive Director to manage the membership lists, create marketing materials (brochures, email promotions, etc.), and advise the Board on issues related to membership. In addition, this committee will be responsible to promote the interests of these Members. The Affiliates Committee welcomes new members and helps them become actively involved in Idaho AHMA.

The Affiliates Committee’s goal will be to encourage membership and active participation of industry vendors and promote their interests in Idaho AHMA. This Committee will be chaired by any Affiliate Member.

Regulatory Affairs Committee

The Regulatory Affairs Committee will provide an opportunity for Management Agents and Owners to address industry changes and concerns related to policies and procedures with our Agency Partners, including, the US Dept of Housing and Urban Development, USDA Rural Housing Services, and Idaho Housing and Finance Association. Forums will include regular AHMA Board of Director’s meetings with Agencies and open Round Table discussions to address current issues and areas of concern.

The Regulatory Affairs Committee’s goal will be to encourage open communication and positive relations. The Committee will be chaired by the Past-President or other Board Member as voted on by the AHMA Board of Directors.

  • The Board of Directors is committed to providing the support necessary to assist committees to ensure successful results.
  • Committee Chairpersons and/or members would be encouraged to attend Board meetings held on the third Wednesday of each month 8:30am-MT to 10:30am-MT. Teleconferencing is available to mitigate travel expense for out-of-town committee members.
